Start with the floor system, not a fibre name
Define the loading, slab and subbase arrangement, joints, concrete supply, placing method, finishing requirement and curing plan before selecting a fibre or dosage.
Questions to resolve
- How will the fibre be dosed and dispersed without balling?
- What workability, pumping or placing limits apply?
- What finish is required, and how will visible surface fibres be controlled?
- What load, joint, restraint and crack-control functions must the design address?
- Which trial and test records are required for approval?
Any comparison with steel fibre, mesh or rebar must be made within a qualified project design. A fibre and dosage alone do not establish structural equivalence.
