Define the support role and construction sequence
State whether the sprayed concrete is initial or permanent support, the substrate and interface conditions, layer sequence and thickness, access constraints, pumping distance, equipment configuration and early-strength requirement.
Control the process
- Confirm batching, fibre dosing and dispersion.
- Review pumpability, nozzle or line constraints, rebound and finish.
- Record curing, inspection and any project hold points.
- Plan a representative site or plant trial before approval.
Use the right evidence
EN 14488-5 can provide a method context for energy-absorption testing when it is specified. A result from one mix, dosage or test record must not be presented as a universal tunnel result. Fibre-reinforced shotcrete also does not replace the need to verify the complete lining, waterproofing and support system.
